Counselling and Life Coaching

Most of us at times can feel burdened and overworked by life’s challenges and demands. We need to take time out to de-stress the body and mind.

Stress Management & Relaxation

High levels of stress can also contribute to physical ailments such as digestive and sleep disturbances. Ways to alleviate these effects to enhance a more positive lifestyle include; Learn techniques to help the mind ‘switch off’, Look at goal setting and planning tools, Enjoy a Holistic Pulsing (gentle rhythmic body rocking-seek Resources, info link) or Hands on Healing session to help you to relax and unwind after a busy week. Have a session on relaxation techniques, incorporating natural breathing rhythms which restore and rebalance the rest of the body, allowing physical functions to work more effectively.

Depression, Anxiety, PTSD

Feeling anxious occurs with many of us at times but if continuous can debilitate our whole well-being. Sometimes underlying causes need to be discussed and addressed to help us live a more relaxed life. The body memory remembers and retains the flight/fright reaction to an event and techniques using NLP for reframing and refocussing using detraction techniques, or Creative Drawing/Art therapy, can help the body to process and diminish the reactions. Depression can also result if anxiety is not resolved or understood. Fears and phobias can all be a result from certain events you have experienced at some time. Something as simple as a spider been thrown at you, giving you a fright, or someone scaring you deliberately can all aggravate the sympathetic nervous system to be on alert. More traumatic events such as sexual abuse have more widespread symptoms such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and can be helped but will take more sessions and time to alleviate (ACC funding is available for these sessions). Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), can also occur when overwhelming trauma events have occurred up to about the age of 7 years. This can cause variable symptoms such as memory lapses, zoning out, hearing voices in your head, feeling like the body does not belong to you etc. As you restore and heal and your true self becomes more resilient and stronger, many of these symptoms, if present, will diminish and often disappear.

Addictions – Alcohol, Drugs, Smoking, Eating, Sex, Pornography, Computer Games, etc

Many of us at times in our lives have turned to other methods or recreational activities, to block the pain or soothe or relax ourselves so we can survive everyday life or certain situations. It’s when we can’t survive daily life without them, that we classify these activities as an ‘addiction’. Addictions can take many forms, but they all have similar underlying reasons as to when and why they started. Once the root cause is identified, the truth of what is really behind this addiction can be assimilated into our logical mind, and this can lessen the desire o the addiction rather dramatically. Techniques using Neuro Linguistic Programming, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Inner Healing Therapy, can all be helpful to alleviate these addictions. Sometime it can be very quick to change these desires, other times depending on the severity of the causes, it can take a lot longer.
